We just want to let you know about the super simple way to add to your LEGO winter village scenes with these LEGO Xtra sets! For the record, we toiled many a weekend… HOURS… sorting through bin after bin of LEGO trying to locate many of the pieces for our winter village build that you can now easily get in these polybags.

Don’t mind us. We’re not bitter. ;)

The funny thing is, we heard about them last year, but just forgot. So when we saw the LEGO Xtra sets this weekend at the LEGO store, it all came rushing back.

If you haven’t come across them before, these accessories polybags are filled with tons of fun additions for your minifigures and builds. Released back in 2019, they retail for $3.99 and make great stocking stuffers!

LEGO Xtra Sets from Most to Least Winter Village Usefulness

There are a total of 7 different bags for you to choose from. Listed in order of what we think will be most to least useful for your LEGO winter village build, we’ll start with the LEGO Xtra Xmas Accessories pack.

Xmas Accessories (40368)

Where was this set when we first started building winter village? Trees, ice stars and huskies… what’s not to like about this bag?

Plentiful when they were released in 2019, they are now harder to find. You can try your luck for the LEGO Xtra Xmas Accessories (40368) on Shop@Home, but your best bet might be out in the wild or at your local store.

Sports Accessories (40375)

If the LEGO Xtra Xmas pack isn’t available, the Sports Accessories pack is the next one you should consider picking up. We spent countless hours and hard earned moola collecting skis, poles and helmets for the minifigures on our ski slopes and ice skates and hockey sticks for our hockey rink.

Had these been around when we started building, we would have saved ourselves a ton of money! Now you can save yourself a ton of money and pick up the LEGO Xtra Sports Accessories (40375) on Shop@Home.

Streetlamps (40312)

Next on your list are sure to be street lamps, benches, lanterns and mailboxes. You’ll want plenty of these to create quaint winter village scenes in your town.

Botanical Accessories (40376)

A good majority of the items in this pack do well for winter village decorations. While you’re creating a winter wonderland, there is plenty of need for trees and foliage. Plus, you get those scarce white leaf pieces to create snow covered trees with which to decorate your town.

Food Accessories (40309)

Every winter village needs market places with food! Although, I find that these pieces are more common than many of the others, you can definitely use them to fill out your food stalls.

Bicycles (40313)

And this is where the pieces become a little less useful for winter village builds. This one feels more like a summer set, with the bicycles and skateboard. From this pack, you could use the bike racks as guard rails for a ski slope, the backpack for hikers and the the basket for market shoppers. Extra helmets are always great for snowboarders, too.

Sea Accessories (40341)

Finally, out of all the Xtra play sets, this will probably be the least useful to you. Very true to its name, there are plenty of sea related pieces. Great for beach builds, but not so much for winter village. Even with that, I’m sure you’ll find a use for the fish, gems, barrel and cone in your builds.

So, what do you think… do you agree with our listing of most to least useful order for building a winter village, or would you make different recommendations?
