LEGO Ideas Candidate: Christmas Theater

I’m not sure why I never thought about building a Christmas Theater for a winter village MOC but I’m so glad somebody else did! Every once in a while I browse the LEGO Ideas submissions just to see what everyone else is creating. I was surprised to find this one in early January!

By then, the creator had gotten their 10,000 votes and qualified for the Third 2023 LEGO Ideas review voting rounds. There are a ton of great ideas, but I’m rooting for this as one of my favorites this round!

You’re probably wondering what this building looks like so let me share it with you…

Description of the LEGO Ideas Christmas Theater

The LEGO Ideas Christmas Theater is the brain child of Tom79acaya. It’s not his first submission to the LEGO Ideas program. It is also not his first winter themed submission, but I’d dare to say definitely the better of the two.

This is the description of the entry:

Welcome to the theater. Where everything is fake but nothing is fake. (Gigi Proietti)

Attending a live theatrical performance is always fascinating but doing it during the most magical winter period of the year, in a square or in a city park is even more so.
Being among lights and colors, scents, seeing and hearing actors, dancers and singers performing, it makes the Christmas atmosphere even more joyful.

I tried to enclose this atmosphere in a set of about 2000 bricks and 15 minifigures, creating a small theater with two interchangeable scenes, with which it will be possible to play!

In the first scene we can attend a ballet in costume with the main dancers who really dance.

In the second scene we can admire a classic concert intent on making us listen to the typical songs of the period.

I think it’s a nice way to introduce this theatrical world to young and old people.

Here are a few photos of his entry:

I also want to point out that the Ballet scene has some motion to it, where the ballerinas really dance! Check out his video below from his Youtube channel to see the action:

Our Thoughts

I think I’ve been pretty clear that we love the idea. I especially love that you can swap out scenes and that the ballet scene is very reminiscent of the Christmas favorite, The Nutcracker ballet. Would just want to add a rat king to the scene!

Would really love to see this build win!

Do you like the build, too! Drop by the LEGO Ideas blog post and let them know you like it, too!
