The Family Brick 2023 Year In Review

Happy New Year! Yesterday morning, we got up and made our way to the LEGO store, as is our custom. We picked up the LEGO Natural History Museum (10326) and several of the LEGO Minifigures Series 25 minifigures. With that, we got to walk away with the LEGO Retro Food Truck (40681) gift with purchase. We also spent some time with friends, which is always nice. (Say hi to Old Gray Bricks & troublesbricking!)

There are plenty of other sets I’d like to pick up, but with how LEGO handles their marketing these days, I’ve gone to buying just enough to get the GWP since I may need to make another obscenely large  LEGO purchase in order to get another quality GWP.

These days, we don’t buy as much LEGO as we used to. We love building LEGO, but the price tag is challenging us. We also just don’t have the same amount of time… or space… in our house.

It’s probably time we start letting go of some of our sets. But I’d like to build them before we do that. Tell us in the comments what you think we should do!

In the meantime, it’s been a minute since we’ve done a year in review post. So, this is The Family Brick’s Year In Review for 2023:

In 2023

  • I wrote a “whopping” 12 posts. In my defense, I only started blogging again in November… so there’s that.
  • The site was viewed 202,944 times. For not posting much, I’d say that’s rather impressive. Let’s call it the “power of quality content”.
  • The busiest day on the blog was November 2nd with 662 views. Sadly, that’s a far cry from the thousands of views we used to get just a few years ago. Shame what negligence does to blog authority. /sigh
  • The most popular post that day was “Build the Very Rare & Expensive LEGO Elf Cafe“.

From the last post I did like this back in 2016, it was clear that over the years, most people came to visit for information on the monthly mini builds. Once LEGO did away with those, it appears most people continue to visit for information related to LEGO winter village. As expected, our Ultimate List of LEGO Holiday Sets post made the list of most viewed again.

Social Media

I keep any social media on autopilot. Since I started that job in 2016 (wow… it’s been a minute), I never had much time for all the secondary promotion and sharing. So yes, we have a Twitter account, we have an Instagram account, a Facebook page, and even a Pinterest page. Some of our posts automatically appear on those socials and sometimes, I do post other randomness there. If you’re up to following us, please do!

And that’s a wrap on our 2023 folks! Here’s looking forward to 2024.

Let us know what you’d like to see more of this coming year in the comments below!
