Hey folks! As you can see, some of my posts are missing images and links due to some host issues I experienced recently. I'm working through getting those corrected as quickly as I can. However, if you are looking at a page you'd like me to correct sooner rather than later, drop me a line with the title of the blog post and I will move it up in my list of fixes to make. Thanks for your help!
Hi there! This is Yazmin. Just wanted to let you know this notice isn't part of the original article below, but I thought you would find my post titled "LEGO Monthly Mini Build Registration Problems? Me too." useful in voicing your opinions directly to LEGO corporate offices regarding the latest changes to the Monthly Mini Build program. Go make your voice heard!

Just a quick reminder the new LEGO Monthly Mini Build Program registration opens up today. Gone are the days of simply showing up to the store an hour before go time to snag a spot for the monthly build.

Starting today, at 9am EST, you’ll need to register online for an “improved LEGO building experience.” To register, make sure you visit https://shop.lego.com/en-US/minibuild-registration today. There are only approximately 120 builds available for each store and I’m sure they will go quickly. You also are no longer allowed to pick up the set to take home and build at your leisure. You must build the set at the store in order to take it home.

One other thing I noticed, which probably doesn’t affect too many families is that one registration is allowed per household with a maximum of 4 children. It’s a bit of a bummer for families with more than 4 kids.

And finally, the event is only open to children ages 6-14 only. Sadly, if they are forcing the age requirement upon registration, we won’t be able to go to the monthly mini builds anymore. The Little Brick is only 4 and although she does an excellent job with building the models by herself, she would not be able to attend because of her age. (This is not the case…sort of. Please see my update section below.)

I’ll come back later today and update this post on whether or not I was able to register her.

Are you looking forward to the new changes in the LEGO Monthly Mini Build program?

UPDATE 6/1/2015 10:05 AM – I just finished walking through the registration process. I was happy to see I could register The Little Brick. The steps are as follows:

Step 1: Fill in your email address information and locate the store where you want to attend the event.

Step 2: Pick the store for your event.

Step 3: Once you’ve selected your store, it’s time to fill out your registration information. If you’ve ever registered your child for a LEGO Club Meeting, this will be a familiar experience for you.

At this point, if your child is younger than the age limit, you receive the above warning which states:

Warning! You are registering a child who is younger than the approved safety age for this product. By submitting your registration you are waiving The LEGO Group of any product related safety claims as they pertain to the monthly mini model build.

So, as you can see, I was able to register The Little Brick despite not meeting the age requirement. Yay!

Step 4: You get a confirmation of your registration for the event.

Easy as pie!

And out of curiosity, I tried to register a child older than 14 years old and they are definitely holding a hard cutoff limit to the top age group. See the alert box below:

LEGO Monthly Mini Build Over 14 Age Limit Warning

It states:

Sorry, Child #1 is too old to participate in this event. We appreciate LEGO fans of all ages but due to limited quantities this event is restricted to ages 6-14.

It will be a sad day when The Little Brick reaches the limit.. provided they are still doing this program at that time.

Where you able to get a spot for the monthly build?
