Happy LEGO Advent Calendar Season!

Oh yes! It’s that time! It’s LEGO Advent Calendar time! And yes, I know we’re starting a day late, but we actually did open our calendars yesterday. I’m just a little extra busy at work at this time. My posts may slow down again, but hopefully not. I enjoy blogging as an outlet.

We’re super excited about the calendars this year… the Star Wars one in particular… as it has two Christmas sweaters! The City calendar also has one, but it’s not as evident that it is a Christmas sweater.

I figure this year, I’ll come back and update this post with new photos as I can. I’ve always tried to Instagram, but I only have so much bandwidth. Let’s be honest, this is not something that pays the bills around here. ;) But I think you probably knew that.

If you haven’t picked one up yet, here are shopping links for each of the sets:

This year, the scenes found inside the LEGO Advent Calendars were delightful… but that is generally true of every year. I’m particularly fond of the Harry Potter scene. It’s just magical… just as it should be!

The only one that was less than stellar was the Friends layout, but at this point, it’s to be expected. I get who the target audience is for this line, but I keep hoping someone will take over and give girls more credit than they’re giving us now.

Day 1

The builds were all fairly standard of what you would expect…at least for the City and Star Wars sets.

For Friends and Harry Potter, the calendars started with minifigures. The Little Brick was a bit disappointed about that for her Friends calendar, as she was looking forward to building.

For Harry Potter, she ran out of time before we had to leave for school, but she managed to get Harry built.

Day 2

Today, the photos display the following builds from left to right: Star Wars, Friends, City and Harry Potter.

We absolutely loved the two Christmas sweaters, although the City one is hard to identify immediately as a Christmas sweater. The Harry Potter castle build was delightful. Truly enjoyed building that one.

Day 3

Today, the photos display the following builds from left to right: Star Wars, Friends, City and Harry Potter.

I loved every build for today! The moisture farm from Star Wars and the micro police station for City are real standouts.

Day 4

Today, the photos display the following builds from left to right: Friends, Harry Potter, City and Star Wars.

I tend to expect much less from the Friends builds, but this is probably a new low. I get it, the gerbil is cute, pretzels are always fun, but what appears to be a bed was built with 2 plates. And that’s it. Maybe I’m just expecting too much. :/

The other builds were great. The horse and carriage for Harry Potter were interesting to build and the City truck was so cute.

More days to come!
