I’m not going to lie… I’ve tried to write a post about our visits to LEGOLand Florida a million times over in the last 4 years! Now that we visited the new LEGO Movie World section, I just might succeed!
The first time we went to the park was 2015. I took so many photos I was overwhelmed when it came time to edit. How do you pick the best pictures of the park when you took hundreds of them? So I would never finished the posts.
The following year we went to Legoland again. We had purchased an Awesomer Pass and timed our visit to occur right before it expired for the year. I ended up taking more photos but once again didn’t post about the trip. And… I’m pretty sure we went again in 2017 and 2018 but I was busy blogging about other things.
So here we are. It’s 2019 and we visited Legoland during our spring break. This time, we spent less than half a day there because we got stuck attending a timeshare presentation that could not be rescheduled. (We either went that morning or risked paying an additional $350 for our hotel rooms.) Since I purchased the tickets discount using a T-Mobile promotion, my husband suggested we should go to the timeshare presentation and then head on over to the LEGOLand afterwards. We were thinking about upgrading our tickets to Awesomer Passes anyway, so it was fine if we didn’t have a full day at the park.
LEGO Movie World
Since we’ve been to the park several times before, we have our favorite spots to visit. With only 5 hours to burn, we decided hitting our favorite spots first would be the plan of attack. This time though, there was a new spot in the park: LEGO Movie World!
We really enjoyed our time in the LEGO Movie World section. If you haven’t been, there are 3 rides, a restaurant, a shop, play area and a character meet and greet.
Let’s see if I can give you a quick tour with the photos I took:
Ride 1: Unikitty’s Disco Drop
Immediately to the left of the LEGO Movie World entrance, you come across Unikitty’s Disco Drop. Similar to the Beetle Bounce, this ride adds an additional touch of fun… as you move up and down the tower, the ride also rotates! The area is enjoyable to look at as well, with all the crazy Unikitty color combinations present.
This is definitely more of a kids ride, so we just let girl ride it by herself.
Ride 2: Masters of Flight
To the right of the Unikitty Disco Drop, there is an insanely huge structure. If you’ve seen The LEGO Movie, you’ll recognize this structure as The Dog in Cloud Cuckoo Land, where all the Master Builders met:
Can you see the resemblance? :D
Once inside, you’ll have to make your way around the maze, but they do a great job of entertaining you while you wait. You’ll be greeted by some awesome builds and provided with a wall and plenty of bricks on which to leave your mark.
Once finally inside the structure, you’ll find the Masters of Flight ride. You’l listen to a setup video where Emmet shares what comes and get placed in a seat by number.
Once strapped in, the ride begins as the seats swivel around and you find yourself as part of the Emmet’s Triple Decker Couch! While you experience THE LEGO MOVIE 2: The Second Part, get ready to feel like you’re flying! You’ll smell pine trees, the ocean, cotton candy and more! It was definitely my favorite of all the new rides.
Ride 3: Battle of Bricksburg
For those of you who are familiar with the old park, this “new” ride will remind you of the old Quest for Chi boat ride. If you remember, this whole LEGO Movie World area used to be the Legends of Chima theme section. As they’ve discontinued the theme, they decided to transform the ride for the new world.
The old ride was always great on a hot day, so that they reskinned it was a smart idea. In addition, it feels like you get more soaked this time around, be prepared for all the water you’ll encounter!
Other LEGO Movie World Areas
You’ll also come across Benny’s Spaceship as a playground area…
Lots of great artwork…
And finally, what I liked to call “shop alley”, were you will encounter the LEGO Characters Meet & Greet, the Awesome Shop gift store and Taco Tuesday… where every day is Tuesday and they serve tacos, tacos, tacos!
At the end of the day, I feel Merlin Entertainment did an excellent job in repurposing this area to fit their vision of the LEGO Movie World. It looks fantastic and all the colors are spot on. We will definitely look forward to coming back to this world.
And the rest of the day?
Well, the hubs wasn’t feeling well, so when I asked if he wanted to go rest at the car, he took me up on the offer.
As for the girl and I, we spent most of the time left at the Ford Driving School.
She really likes to drive.
