Returning to Winter Village LEGO Building

Hello Winter Village LEGO enthusiasts and Happy New Year!

As you read this, we’ll be standing in line at our local LEGO store waiting for them to open! And yes, it’s been a while – almost a year since my last post in February 2024. Like many of you, life took some unexpected turns, and while our love for creating winter scenes never dimmed, my personal time to share that passion here did. But there’s something magical about this hobby that keeps drawing us back, isn’t there?

What’s Been Happening

During my break from blogging, we’ve been selectively collecting, building, and dreaming up new ideas for our winter village LEGO display. Last year was a bit tough – personally and professionally. Won’t get into the professional but here’s some background on the personal…

Part of the reason we’ve been absent has to do with my knees. Earlier last year, while prepping for a school trip that involved a ton of walking, I discovered my knees needed some work. Plenty of doctor’s visits and a few shots later, I came to realize I needed a total knee replacement for BOTH of my knees. Not what I expected, but this quickly became the focus of my year… and my husband’s. Our life seemed to revolve around my pain management. Not fun for anyone.

In-between and after the surgeries, we were finally able to spend time prepping our new winter village layout. Literally, our build has been sitting in our living room since our last show back in 2022… but I’ll talk about that in another post later this year.

However, we’re still not done, as you can see the Santa’s side of the village is still in pieces.

Now on the other side of both of these surgeries… and the holidays, I find myself with time to focus on the blog again!

Looking Forward

Rather than just quietly slip back into posting, I wanted to properly say hello…again! Unfortunately, this is not the first time I’ve been pulled away, so we’ll see if my “free” time works out this round. You can expect new content every week, covering everything from building techniques and display ideas to storage solutions and seasonal adaptations.

Some topics we’re particularly excited to share:

  • New building techniques we’ve discovered
  • Updates on recent winter-themed releases
  • Custom additions that complement official sets
  • Seasonal modification ideas
