Hey folks! As you can see, some of my posts are missing images and links due to some host issues I experienced recently. I'm working through getting those corrected as quickly as I can. However, if you are looking at a page you'd like me to correct sooner rather than later, drop me a line with the title of the blog post and I will move it up in my list of fixes to make. Thanks for your help!

This is the story of our LEGO Friends Advent Calendar… To jump ahead, click on a daily link below:

Day 1 – Andrea Minidoll

My daughter has been super excited to get started with her LEGO Friends Advent Calendar. We’ve had such a busy first day that it wasn’t until late this evening we were able to all sit down as a family and share the time together for our Advent Calendars.

Today, she got Andrea… and immediately set her to play with the builds from the other sets.

Andrea is super cute in this Christmas outfit. She has a blue top with a red skirt and boots. She’s my favorite, of course, since I modeled the curls from my avatar after her.

Day 2 – Bench & Ice Skates

Today, we got ready to go out on the ice!

LEGO Friends Advent Calendar 2015 – Day 2 – Bench & Ice Skates

Today’s build was a bit lack luster. Ice skates are always welcomed, as they are few and far between. However, the masonry brick bench, while splashy with color, was just okay.

I was hoping for more… and maybe so was Minibrick, since she immediately grabbed the extra camera and pretzel from today’s LEGO City Advent Calendar build. I’m guessing Andrea was bored just sitting around in skates…

Let’s hope Day 3 brings us something more fun.

Day 3 – Sled

Day 3 of #legofriends #legoadventcalendar – Let’s go for a #lego #sleighride! #andrea

Today did prove to be a much better build than yesterday’s. The brightly colored sled is a more substantial build than the single person bench of Day 2.

We immediately put it to playable use. Andrea sat in the sled, since she is the only minifigure we have so far out of the three sets that can sit, while our nameless boy minifigure pulled her around.

Maybe he should have been pushing the sled since there’s no real pull rope…

Either way, they clearly had fun… and so did we.

Day 4 – Snowman

#day4 #legofriends #legoadventcalendar #lego #snowman #girl

Today’s build was a fun little snowman. We’ve actually seen him in other sets and have made similar snowmen to put in our Winter Village MOC.

Regardless, the girl was happy to have one of her own… Although I’m sure she will repurpose it into something else eventually.

All he’s missing is a carrot nose!

Day 5 – Liza

(12/17/2015 – So we had some trouble with our Instagram account, as you can see in the photo above. After trying 50 million ways from Sunday to get the uploaded photos to show without hot spots and large areas of pixelation, we decided to no longer upload photos to Instagram until we can get the issue corrected. And all the fussing with the Instagram account was causing me to get behind in posting these reveals. So, from here on out, we’ll post one photo for the build on the post. Thanks for understanding!)

"Wanna skate?" - Day 5 Liza Minifigure from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
“Wanna skate?” – Day 5 Liza Minifigure from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

Today we have our second minifigure from the advent calendar. Say hello to Liza. She’s not wearing a new outfit, but the pieces are very dressed up and perfect LEGO Friends colors.

Glad to see Andrea finally has a friend to play with instead of those silly little boys from the LEGO City Advent Calendar…

Day 6 – Skies, Ski Poles, Helmet with Goggles & Flag with Pole

"On your left!" - Day 6 Ski Equipment from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
“On your left!” – Day 6 Ski Equipment from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

I love me some ski equipment! You know it’s going straight into our Winter Village MOC… And if the girl will let me, so will Andrea! The equipment looks good on Liza, too, don’t you think?

Super happy with today’s accessories.

Day 7 – Stage with Microphone & Stand

"We're raffling off this pie!" - Day 7 Microphone & Stand from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
“We’re raffling off this pie!” – Day 7 Microphone & Stand from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

Since Andrea is the rock star of the LEGO Friends world, it only makes sense to have a small stage for her at the winter scene unfolding. She looks great raffling off the pie, doesn’t she?

She’s just a natural on stage…

Day 8 – Speaker

"Can you hear me?" - Day 8 Speaker from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
“Can you hear me?” – Day 8 Speaker from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

Speakers are nothing new to LEGO Friends Advent Calendars, so I’m not too surprised to see this build here. I’m not sure why LEGO thinks LEGO Friends fans like speakers so much, but it’s probably the same logic that leads them to think putting in an accessories pack into each advent calendar is a good idea as well.

I don’t know that there is an accessories pack coming, but I would bet on it…

Not impressed, but the girl loves it anyway.

Day 9 – Saxophone with Stand

"Groovy!" - Day 9 Saxophone with Stand from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
“Groovy!” – Day 9 Saxophone with Stand from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

I don’t believe we own a LEGO saxophone, so the girl and I were very happy to get one in today’s advent calendar window. She’s had Liza running around with it everywhere, since she insists Andrea is the singer.

Regardless, the two dolls do make a good team…

Day 10 – Accessories Pack

Day 10 Accessories Pack from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

I just have nothing good to say about today’s box. If you’ve read my comparison from last year of LEGO Friends Advent Calendars, you’ll know I just don’t like seeing these accessoires take up an advent calendar spot every year. I feel like LEGO is saying the target market doesn’t really like to build… they’re just concerned with minutia.

Sadly, it doesn’t matter if that’s what I think, because my girl *loves* getting these little accessories. Despite how I feel, LEGO has it right, I think…

Day 11 – Container with Accessories

Day 11 Container with Accessories from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
Day 11 Container with Accessories from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

Again, we have another container of accessories, but at least we had a small build with this one. Here we have the makings of an awesome little fairytale with elf hats and magic wands.

There may be a story to that soon…

Day 12 – Bunny, Hutch & Carrot

Nom, Nom, Nom - Day 12 Bunny Hutch and Carrot from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
Nom, Nom, Nom – Day 12 Bunny Hutch and Carrot from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

This build is definitely for all those pet-loving LEGO Friends fans out there. Today we got a bunny rabbit, like the baby ones in the LEGO Friends 41087 Bunny and Babies set that just came out this year.

I like little animals… and the girl does too!

Day 13 – Cupcake Stand

"Cupcakes! Cupcakes! Get your cupcakes here!" - Day 13 Cupcake Stand from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
“Cupcakes! Cupcakes! Get your cupcakes here!” – Day 13 Cupcake Stand from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

It seems we’ve gone from farm to kitchen today with the advent calendar… Not that anyone plans on making rabbit stew around here, just that today’s cupcake stand doesn’t match with any of our previous days.

We love it regardless! Nice to have an actual “build” two days in a row…

Day 14 – Oven with Cupcakes

"Smells good!" - Day 14 Cupcake Oven from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
“Smells good!” – Day 14 Cupcake Oven from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

Well, you didn’t think we would just have magically appearing cupcakes, now did you? Apparently, our scene will have outdoor ovens for our cupcake stand from yesterday. Always fun to have a safety hazard out in the open…

Ok, I’ll stop being mean. I do like it a lot and so does the girl. Watch out you don’t burn your hand on the stove, though!

Day 15 – Hot Cocoa, Saucepan, Mugs & Whipped Cream

"Hot chocolate! Yum!" - Day 15 Hot Chocolate Accessories from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
“Hot chocolate! Yum!” – Day 15 Hot Chocolate Accessories from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

This photo I took actually made me want to get some hot chocolate, due to the shred line in the ice looking like steam coming up from the hot chocolate pot. I’m a fan of these type of accessories (different than the “primping” accessories from Day 10.)

Big thumbs up on my end… and for the girl, too.

Day 16 – Cake & Lollipop Stand

"Sweets!" - Day 16 Cake and Lollipop Stand from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
“Sweets!” – Day 16 Cake and Lollipop Stand from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

I’m a big fan of today’s build, mainly because that cake looks delish! The girl, of course, is a fan of the lollipop. Regardless, this was a big hit with the both of us. Lots of playability as far as we are concerned!

Day 17 – Benches & Firepit

Day 17 Benches and Fire Pit from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
Day 17 Benches and Firepit from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

Not much building action going on here, but this is a creative addition to the marketplace scene setup by the advent calendar. I like the idea of the firepit and can imagine the mini dolls sitting on the benches roasting marshmallows over the flame.

Wish I had thought of that before I took my picture!

Day 18 – Table

"Meh." - Day 18 Bench from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
“Meh.” – Day 18 Bench from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

Worst. Build. Yet.

I really thought we were past the poor builds, but today’s 4 piece build just proves LEGO thinks their LEGO Friends target audience (which, let’s just all admit, is young girls), are not smart. 4 Pieces.

FOUR PIECES.

Just let that sink in.

Admittedly, this build works great with yesterday’s benches and what I thought at the time was a firepit. (It’s actually looking more like a candle on a plate. Just needs some sort of holding mechanism.) So, there’s tons of fun to be had. However, I would have liked to of seen both the benches and the tables in one build and then something equally as awesome for the second day.

Maybe I’m expecting too much, but considering the fantastic builds I’ve seen in the LEGO City Advent Calendar and the LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, I can’t help but feel dissappointed.

Maybe it’s just me…

Day 19 – Hockey Sticks & Stand

Day 19 Hockey Sticks & Stand from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
Day 19 Hockey Sticks & Stand from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

Today’s build is a step up from yesterday’s 4-part table build. The hockey sticks are a nice treat since they are still a rare enough part to make them hard to find. My husband already made a trade with the girl so he could get the hockey sticks for use in our winter village MOC.

This is an okay build and a partial redemption, but I’m still not completely won back by the advent calendar.

Hoping tomorrow brings better builds…

Day 20 – Hockey Goals

"Come back here, hockey puck thief!" - Day 20 Hockey Goals from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
“Come back here, hockey puck thief!” – Day 20 Hockey Goals from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

I’m much happier with today’s build in the advent calendar. Hockey goals are a perfect match yesterday’s hockey sticks and stand…and together, they make a perfect scene!

Even when the criminal is trying to steal your hockey puck…

Day 21 – Snowball Shooter

"Watch where you shoot that thing!" - Day 21 Snowball Launcher from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
“Watch where you shoot that thing!” – Day 21 Snowball Launcher from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

Today brought us a snowball launcher, which the girl immediately proceeded to aim at our faces. Fortunately, before she launched, she caught a glance at the warning diagram in the build window and asked us “What’s that mean?”

Crisis averted… and the girl is happy with the build.

Day 22 – Carnival Can Game Stand

"You get 2 tries!" - Day 22 Carnival Can Game Stand from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
“You get 2 tries!” – Day 22 Carnival Can Game Stand from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

Yesterday’s build makes so much more sense in the light of today’s build. As the girl built what looks like a carnival can game stand, the hubs and I made a mental collective “Oh…!” Needless to say, we loved the build a lot.

And, btw, I’m a poor snowball shooter… It took me 5 tries to knock down the “cans”…

Day 22 – Christmas Tree

Day 23 Christmas Tree from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
Day 23 Christmas Tree from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

I was wondering when this Christmas tree build would finally appear. As of yesterday, I could have guessed today, since LEGO always saves the best for last with the advent calendars.

The Christmas tree is a rather nice build, mixing white and green slope pieces to give the image of a snow-dusted tree. They also put the design on a white 4×4 round plate, so the “ground” would have snow as well. It’s a lovely build and one we use often in our winter village MOC.

The girl likes it so much, she even “crowned” it with a cupcake.

Day 24 – Penguin

Day 24 Penguin from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
Day 24 Penguin from LEGO Friends Advent Calendar

Sadly, the last day of the advent calendar is here. We got a penguin! The girl was super happy about it and immediately moved her into her LEGO village.

And with that, the 2015 LEGO Friends Advent Calendar is done!

Not the calendar your interested in? We’re doing the same thing with the LEGO City Advent Calendar and the LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar! Go check them out.

  1. How come you stopped updating these? I would love if you did all 3 on a single post, so I could compare them day by day. We’re doing city and friends here, and I enjoyed reading along with yours!

    1. Well I’ve been having problems with my phone and Instagram. :/ They don’t seem to want to play well together and my photos end up with tons of burnt pixels… I’ve been trying to find a way take them work together.

However, I’m giving up on that and I’m just going to start posting photos in the posts themselves. :) It’s giving me anxiety to be so behind! Hehe

Maybe I’ll set up a comparison post as well for you once I catch up!

      Thanks for checking in!

  2. Mrs. Brick,

I must say that I am in total agreement with you in regards to the cost/piece ratio of the Friend’s Advent Calendar. That is why I have not purchased any of the Advent Calendars that Lego has released for the Friends series. The few “rare” pieces simply do not out weigh the cost. How does one contact Lego and get this point across that they, in my opinion, are cheating the Friend’s series?

I would truly like to add the Advent pieces to my Friend’s collection but can not justify the price.
