Hey folks! As you can see, some of my posts are missing images and links due to some host issues I experienced recently. I'm working through getting those corrected as quickly as I can. However, if you are looking at a page you'd like me to correct sooner rather than later, drop me a line with the title of the blog post and I will move it up in my list of fixes to make. Thanks for your help!
Hi there! This is Yazmin. Just wanted to let you know this notice isn't part of the original article below, but I thought you would find my post titled "LEGO Monthly Mini Build Registration Problems? Me too." useful in voicing your opinions directly to LEGO corporate offices regarding the latest changes to the Monthly Mini Build program. Go make your voice heard!

By now you should have heard that the registration for LEGO monthly mini builds has changed to an online format. So you probably already know that registration for the LEGO September 2015 monthly mini build opens tomorrow morning at 9:00am EST. If you haven’t, here’s the updated information from the Monthly Mini Model Build blurb on the back of the September 2015 LEGO Store Calendar:

September-2015-LEGO-Monthly-Mini-Build-Information

You can now reserve the September Diver Mini Model BEFORE you visit the LEGO Store! To register, visit shop.LEGO.com/Minibuild-Registration starting August 4th August 6th. Due to safety and build experience standards, builders must be between the ages of 6-14 to participate. The mini model must be completely built in store. Registration is on a first come first serve basis and quantities are limited. Stores will no longer accept walk ups on the night of the event.

The LEGO September 2015 monthly mini build is the adorable scuba diver above. Registration for next month’s event opens up at 9am EST tomorrow morning August 6th. You can register at the LEGO Monthly Mini Build page. Make sure to set your alarms!

How have you like the new LEGO Monthly Mini build experience? Or have you missed out because of needing to register to attend?

Update 8/4/2015 10:02 am EST – Turns out there’s been a change in registration times. Registration for next month’s event will begin August 6th at 9:00am EST. Seems like this change was made to allow everyone who wasn’t informed previously an opportunity to make plans to register for the event. Apologies for the original misinformation above… just reporting what I read on the LEGO store calendar. ;)

  1. More drawbacks than benefits to me. The July build did run very smoothly, but it was weirdly quiet in the store. And I missed hanging out with people on line outside the store. Also, we can’t easily go with friends anymore, or invite friends to come with us to the event – too hard too schedule. We were shut out of this month’s event at our local store because all the slots were filled by the first afternoon of registration. We’ve only missed the minibuild as a walkup once in three years, so overall, these changes are negative for us. Also, tinkering with the registration day is annoying, the first for the July build, the first Tuesday for August, and it looks like the first Thursday now for the Sept build. Pick a system, LEGO!

    1. I definitely see the disadvantages, Lisa! Have you tried calling your local store to see if they have had an cancellations? I’d also recommend stopping by the store towards the end of the build to see if they had anyone not show up so you can take their build spot that evening. Although that last on really depends on your store manager.

We found we had to jump through hoops to register with friends last time as well. As our friends are not as passionate about LEGO as we are, we ended up registering on time for this month’s mini build, while they missed out. So we went alone to this build and feel your pain.
