June 2015 Monthly Mini Build: Parrot

Hey folks! As you can see, some of my posts are missing images and links due to some host issues I experienced recently. I'm working through getting those corrected as quickly as I can. However, if you are looking at a page you'd like me to correct sooner rather than later, drop me a line with the title of the blog post and I will move it up in my list of fixes to make. Thanks for your help!

I forget how busy the monthly mini build gets during summer. Yesterday, as I walked up to the store, I remembered the time we came a little too late during summer vacation and had one upset Little Brick. When I made a suggestion to my friend to meet me there 30 minutes earlier, I thought I was being slick. I wasn’t expecting the line to be this full already:

I came with two in tow: The Little Brick and her friend…so I was super glad to see my friend roll up with her little one and brick builder. Off I sent my friend and 3 girls to the playground so I could stand in line the next 30 minutes and wait for their tickets.

By the time I got our tickets, the line behind me looked like this:

I hope everyone in line got a ticket, cause it stinks to wait for so long and not get one.

After picking up our tickets, grabbing a bite to eat and playing at the indoor mall playground, back we came to build our parrot.

Let me just say he is an awesome little fella. I may *acquire* this guy so I can have one myself. I may also make another one from our stash to send to my grandmother who loves parrots.

If you’re interested in building one of your own, above is the LEGO parts card showing the pieces for this set. The only pieces you may have some trouble finding are the 1 x 2 special plates that make the moveable joints for the parrots wings. Regardless, if you really want a parrot, I think you could do something similar (with no moveable parts) with a 1 nub brick.
