Feel Guide: LEGO Minifigures Series 16

Hey folks! As you can see, some of my posts are missing images and links due to some host issues I experienced recently. I'm working through getting those corrected as quickly as I can. However, if you are looking at a page you'd like me to correct sooner rather than later, drop me a line with the title of the blog post and I will move it up in my list of fixes to make. Thanks for your help!

This past weekend, we went to the LEGO store to participate in the LEGO Club monthly event. That’s when we noticed the LEGO Minifigure Series 16 was released! We weren’t planning on purchasing anything at the store that day, but we walked away with a full set. Thanks to the hubby, he did an awesome job of feeling the bags for us, since I was sitting with the girl helping her out with the monthly mini build. If you’d like to try and get your own full set, we’ve created a build guide for you.

LEGO Minifigures Series 16 Feel Guide

Ice Queen
Distinguishing piece: dress

This is the simplest of them all. The dress piece is so big, you really don’t need to look for anything else.

Arabian Knight
Distinguishing pieces: sword hilt with turban

While the sword should be enough, you could confuse this with the Ice Queen. So, if you find the sword, feel for the hilt AND look for the turban as well.

Banana Guy
Distinguishing pieces: banana

Well, I did say the Ice Queen was probably the simplest of them all, but I’m wrong. Banana Guy is definitely the simplest of them all to find. Just look for the large smooth banana piece. Really can’t go wrong here.

Minifigure Spy
Distinguishing pieces: small flat-ish backpack, rope, spy glasses

The backpack is an interesting feel, since it has that small flat neck connector. However, what really tells you the polybag contains the spy is either the rope or the spy glasses. Both are round (spy glasses are roundish with a break in the curve), so they will make an easy find.

Serenader
Distinguishing pieces: hat, guitar

The hat, my friends, the hat… or the guitar. Either one is clearly distinguishable.

LEGO Minifigure Series 16 71013 Serenader

Imp Costume Kid
Distinguishing pieces: short legs, wings, pitchfork

Since there is only one other minifigure with short legs, this already drops you to a 50/50 chance of getting the right one. Next look for the pitchfork or the wings. Both shapely enough through thick polybags to identify.

Hiker
Distinguishing pieces: map, backpack, compass

That backpack is bulky! Good identifier. The map is flat, but could be confused with the Pirate, so if you find the map, look for the backpack of the 1×1 tile compass piece. No other minifigure in this series has one.

Minifigure Rogue
Distinguishing pieces: bow & arrow, quiver

I never found these by the bow & arrow or the quiver, I kept finding them by the headpiece, as it was the only one that had a small opening in it. However, your best bet would be the pieces I mentioned. Finding by headpiece was a bit difficult.

Dog Show Judge
Distinguishing pieces: dog, trophy

The dog is a dead giveaway, as is the trophy!

LEGO Minifigure Series 16 71013 Dog Show Judge

Spooky Boy
Distinguishing pieces: spider, book

Not that anyone likes to feel for spiders, but if you don’t notice the spider, he is the only one with a rectangular piece – the book. Easy to find.

LEGO Minifigure Series 16 71013 Spooky Boy

Babysitter
Distinguishing pieces: baby, bottle

I didn’t find this one, but Mr. Family Brick assures me the baby bottle and the baby are what you want to look for to get the babysitter.

LEGO Minifigure Series 16 71013 Babysitter

Pirate
Distinguishing pieces: sword, map

This is the second minifigure piece that has a 2×2 tile, so if you find that first, make sure you look for the sword as well to make sure you’re not getting a camper.

LEGO Minifigure Series 16 71013 Pirate

Cyborg
Distinguishing pieces: pauldrons, gun

The pauldrons (or shoulder pads) are easily distinguishable… but in the event you’re not quite sure, give a feel for the gun, too.

Penguin Suit
Distinguishing pieces: short legs with penguin head, ice skates

One of two minifigures in this series with short legs, you can also look for the ice skates (super tiny) or the penguin head to confirm.

LEGO Minifigure Series 16 71013 Penguin Suit

Kickboxer
Distinguishing pieces: long hair, helmet, 1×1 cylinder brick

The long hair is a dead giveaway for the Kickboxer. From there you can also look for the helmet, or a 1×1 cylinder brick used for holding helmet on minifigure plate when not in use. We didn’t know about that last one until we opened the polybag, but since none of the other minifigures have that piece, it’s good to distinguish.

LEGO Minifigure Series 16 71013 Kickboxer

Wildlife Photographer
Distinguishing pieces: penguin, camera, hood

The penguin is an easy giveaway, followed by the camera. If you need further confirmation, look for that hood.

LEGO Minifigure Series 16 71013 Wildlife Photographer

My favorites are Ice Queen, Kickboxer and Wildlife Photographer, in that order. We may have to find more of them so I can bring them to work.

Have you picked up any of the LEGO Minifigure Series 16 figures yet? Which one was your favorite?

  1. Banana Guy and Penguin Boy are my favourites. I’ve heard that in the US these have been left behind in the stores for some reason, while the Babysitter has flown off the shelves and is really hard to come by.

  2. I have spooky girl and the vampire with colffin and vampiress from previous series .. But I love spooky boy and imp costume kid !! I love the Halloween bucket ! I have the skeleton with bucket from previous series .. I am really excited to get baby sitter and Ice princess next …two at a time .. Brick by brick I shall have them .
