Hey folks! As you can see, some of my posts are missing images and links due to some host issues I experienced recently. I'm working through getting those corrected as quickly as I can. However, if you are looking at a page you'd like me to correct sooner rather than later, drop me a line with the title of the blog post and I will move it up in my list of fixes to make. Thanks for your help!

If you’re local and don’t have any plans for this weekend, why not consider coming out to the “Trains! Trains! Trains!” event at Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History on Saturday and Sunday? The DixieLUG group has been asked to create a display for the event with our power function enabled train setup.

If you haven’t heard about the event, here is the description from the museum’s event website:

The Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History will host the sixth annual installment of its highly popular Trains, Trains, Trains event on Saturday, Jan. 30 AND Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days throughout the Museum.

This year, the railroad-themed event will include new and expanded model train layouts, more activities for families and an expanded General Emporium. The enlarged gift shop will offer a wide range of train and railroad-themed items, including a number of gifts geared toward families and kids.

As guests explore the Museum and discover the train layouts planned for this year’s event, they will have the opportunity to interact and operate select layouts.

Athens Bend Track will set up the events first ever N-Scale layout in the Cobb Energy Gallery. Brand new layouts for the event will be provided by the Middle Georgia Model Railroad Club and the Chattanooga Modular Modelers. Other participating layouts include the Georgia Tinplate Trackers, the North Georgia Lego train club, and more!

As part of this year’s expanded hands-on activities, kids of all ages will be able to take part in a new and enjoyable take-home craft. In addition, railroad artifacts from the Museum’s extensive archive collection will be on display for visitors to hold, touch and discover how they were used on the railroad. New displays will be out for the event as well as a Lego Play and Build area.

Live railroad music will be available throughout the event provided by the Mars Hill Porch Pickers band, The Now & then Band, Smoke Rise, Picking Peaches, The Honeywood Band, The M&M band, The South County Pickers, and the Possum Kingdom Ramblers! Check out the schedule of performances HERE.

In addition to the special train exhibits erected for the event, the Museum’s regular displays, including the historic General locomotive and the Glover Machine Works will be open during Trains, Trains, Trains.

Museum admission is $7.50 for adults, $6.50 for seniors, $5.50 for children ages 4-12 and free for children three and under as well as Museum members; coupons and discounts will not be accepted on the day of the event. The Museum is located at 2829 Cherokee Street in downtown Kennesaw (exit 273 on Interstate 75).

We will be adding our Winter Village MOC to the DixieLUG display, so you can expect to see us there on Sunday for sure! Stop on by!
