The LEGO Batman Movie Costumes by Disguise

With The LEGO Batman Movie releasing this weekend, you may have a kid or two who wants to dress up to go watch the movie. (Teach ’em while they’re young, dads!) Since it’s such a short time between now and then, you may want to check out the The LEGO Batman Movie Costumes by Disguise on Amazon.

Disguise came out with two costumes. Here are descriptions below, with affiliate links:

The LEGO Batman Movie Costumes - Batman

There are three versions of this costume: Prestige, Deluxe and Classic.

The difference between the three versions is that the Prestige version comes with a minifigure tunic with detachable cape, minifigure pants, mask and pair of hands. This means, the costume gets more of that blocky minifigure form you expect to see. With the Deluxe version, you get a minifigure tunic with detachable cape, pants, mask and pair of hands. Both these versions come with a half mask and hands. However, the Classic version only comes with a minifigure tunic with detachable cape, mask and pair of hands. This means you’ll need to have a pair of black pants at the ready for the costume.

The costume comes in sizes Small/4-6, Medium/7-8 and Large/10-12.

Just as with the Batman costume, the Batgirl costume comes in three versions: Prestige, Deluxe and Classic.

The differences are the same as well. The Prestige version comes with a minifigure tunic with detachable cape, minifigure pants, mask and pair of hands. Again, more “minifigure blocky” all over. With the Deluxe version, you get a minifigure tunic with detachable cape, pants, mask and pair of hands. Both these versions come with a half mask and hands. However, the Classic version only comes with a minifigure tunic with detachable cape, mask and pair of hands.

Please note! Because the costume is purple, you’ll have a harder time finding a pair of pants to match the shade. If you’re looking to save money, I would recommend purchasing the Deluxe version over the Classic. You would think the Classic would be more economical, since it comes with less items. However, as of the date of this post, on Amazon, the Deluxe (with the cheap pants that come with most costumes) is actually cheaper than the Classic, that comes with no pants. Get the Deluxe version and save yourself some hassle.

The costume comes in sizes Small/4-6, Medium/7-8 and Large/10-12.

So what’s up with the minifigure hands?

One last thing I wanted to talk about. What is up with those minifigure hands?

This isn’t the first theme Disguise has come out with LEGO costumes with those awkward minifigure hands. See my post from last year on the LEGO Halloween Costumes by Disguise. I had a reader comment on the minifigure hands as well:

Comment on LEGO Halloween Costume Minifigure Hands

As you can see, there was some confusion as to “how” the kids would be able to hold their candy buckets and ring doorbells, etc… This time, Disguise decided to visually clarify the situation on the hands with some additional product photography, like so:

Turns out, the hands are removable gloves with a gap in the center for your kid to poke his hand through anytime he needs a break from the LEGO hand look. Since the gloves are soft foam, they can maneuver though the hole easily.

I’m hoping this is just the first in a series of The LEGO Batman Movie costumes to be released. I’d love to see a Robin and maybe a Joker, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Poison Ivy… ok, maybe that’s too many, but those would be my votes. Yours?
